Instructions

Watch this video to see an example of how to respond to “Activity Ready for Scoring” messages and provide scores and feedback for submitted activities. You can also follow the Step-by-Step instructions in the sections below.

Step-by-Step Instructions

Access Scorebook

  1. Watch for an “Activity Ready for Scoring” message. When you receive the email, note the learner’s name and the activity. Then click the Open Scorebook button.

  2. Login to TILE with your Mentor account.

  3. The scorebook (also referred to as the "Overview" page) for the video activity loads. This page includes progress states, an insights dashboard, and a learner list. The six progress states indicate where learners and instructors are in the process of completing and evaluating a video assignment.
    • 'Not Viewed,' 'Viewed,' and 'In Progress' are the steps learners work through prior to submitting an assignment.
    • Once learners submit an assignment, the three instructor states represent stages of the assessment process: 'Needs Evaluation,' 'Evaluated' (scores saved as a draft), and 'Published' (scores are available to learners).

Review Submission and Provide Feedback

  1. Select the Needs Evaluation link for the learner name in the notification email. (NOTE: It’s a good idea to scan the rest of the scorebook as well, in case you missed any submissions from other learners.)

  2. The activity page for the selected learner opens.

  3. Scroll down to the Submission window to play the learner’s video (and/or view any submitted files as required by the assignment). Use the feedback panel on the right to enter text feedback for the learner.

  4. Your feedback appears in the review thread, with a video time stamp (this link allows the learner to jump to the point in the video where you entered your comment). If any peer reviews have been submitted by other learners, you can review their comments and their scores as well (NOTE: peer scores are for feedback only and do not affect the official activity score).

  5. You can also submit video feedback by clicking the +video icon. This will open a recording window so you can record your feedback via your webcam. Save your recording when you’re done and it will appear in the review thread.

  6. Repeat the steps above until you are finished giving feedback to the learner. Then scroll up to the scoring panel.

Submit Score for Activity

The Scoring panel is at the top of the learner’s activity page.

  1. Provide a score for the activity in the scoring panel, using the method configured for the activity (e.g., using a rubric as shown in this example).

  2. Click Save and Publish when you are done scoring the activity. This submits your score to the system, which will trigger an “Activity Scored” email to the learner. Their score (and pass/fail result) will be displayed in this email.

(You can also click the Save As Draft option if you want to save the score without finalizing and publishing it for the learner to see.)

  3. Your published score for the learner's assignment appears in the learner list. You can scroll this list to check the status/scores for other learner assignments necessary and enter additional scores if necessary.
